IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT                                                                                                                    GOVERNMENT MILITARY SURPLUS

We purchase most of our military surplus directly from the United States Government and, therefore, most of what we sell is GENUINE US ISSUE. We purchase in bulk lots (truckloads at a time) and all of the items we receive are hand sorted by type, size and then individually graded by condition. However, since we buy mixed lots (not all the same item) or whatever the Government is offering at the time, our supply of an item, a certain condition or the quantity we receive will vary from time to time. And if an item becomes out of stock or happens to arrive to us in a mixed lot (especially in a limited quantity) we cannot simply pick up the phone and re-order an exact replacement. Furthermore, the quality of military surplus we receive from the Government will also vary from shipment to shipment.

Also understand that when buying Government military surplus especially our USED NICE/VERY GOOD or GOOD condition items that there are “DEGREES” or “RANGES” of deficiencies even within the same quality of condition. For example you may receive two pair of gloves or boots and both are graded NICE/VERY GOOD but one pair has more staining or soiling than the other pair. In this case both are considered NICE/VERY GOOD but have different “degrees” of deficiency.

Our NICE and VERY GOOD qualities of condition are the same and our GOOD quality of condition is a step below.

Our used items WILL NOT NECESSARILY ALWAYS HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME CONDITION. Some items may need laundering or minor repair but all of the items that we sell will be serviceable and the deficiency will not affect the intended use of the item. For example: a “NICE or VERY GOOD” Trigger Finger Mitten could look (or actually be) NEW except for staining. This staining causes the mittens to be downgraded from NEW/LIKE NEW to VERY GOOD depending upon the extent of the staining. Another example of “NICE or VERY GOOD” would be soiling, though not excessive, and the mittens simply need laundering. However, in most cases, once laundered you’ll be amazed at how good the item looks. And, furthermore, in both cases the intended use of the mittens is not affected, in this case – to keep your hands nice and warm. Furthermore, we try to pick the ‘WORST’ (for lack of a better term) scenario for each condition when taking our stock photos so we don’t misrepresent the condition of an item.

DRMO STAMPING

Both our NEW/LIKE NEW and USED items may or may not have a “DRMO” stamp on the label or item. This Government stamp does not mean the merchandise is defective. This stamp is used strictly to keep track of Government inventory. We do not make a practice of removing this stamp and cannot guarantee that the item you order will or will not have it. However, these stamps can generally be removed by you with a product called “Greased Lightning” in combination with another product called “Goof Off” and a nylon scrubbing brush. These products are available at various stores in your neighborhood.

NEW/UNISSUED: Brand New. Item may be in or out of its’ original packaging. No soldier’s name on the label or item. May or may not have “DRMO” stamp on the label or item. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the item you order will or will not have a DRMO stamp on the label or item unless otherwise stated in the specific auction. Please Note: This Government stamp does not mean the merchandise is defective. This stamp is used strictly to keep track of Government inventory.

NEW/LIKE NEW : Item appears to be “NEW” or “LIKE NEW” but may have very slight signs of wear or previous gentle use. May or may not have soldier’s name on the label or item. May or may not have “DRMO” stamp on the label or item. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the item you order will or will not have a soldier’s name or DRMO stamp on the label or item unless otherwise stated in the specific auction.

NICE or VERY GOOD: Item shows signs of more wear or previous use but no holes, rips, tears or other obvious deficiencies. May or may not have soldier’s name on the label or item. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the item you order will or will not have a soldier’s name on the label or item. May or may not have “DRMO” stamp on the label or item.

GOOD: This condition varies widely depending upon the specific item and is generally your best bargain for the price. Generally speaking “GOOD” means the item will be faded and will show more signs of previous use and, in some cases, need minor repair. For example: Alice packs, LBV’s, duffle bags or laundry bags may have small holes, tears, loose stitching or defective or missing snaps or parts. However, these items are still serviceable and will not affect the intended use of the item. In most cases our GOOD condition simply means a lesser grade of NICE or VERY GOOD and may have been professionally repaired or show signs of fading or minor defects but, again, will NOT affect the intended use of the item. Another example would be our Gortex jackets, rain gear and M-65 field jackets and other similar textiles, whereby although they will not have any holes, rips or tears, they may have been professionally repaired and the majority will have fading. We do test all zippers, however, all snaps and other closures may or may not work but will not affect the intended use of the item.

RAIN PONCHOS

Some of the rain ponchos we receive have larger amounts of milky colored glue around the neckline than others do and this is normal and does not affect the intended use of the poncho. The glue is added to prevent leaking around the neckline and the rain ponchos with excessive amounts of this glue are considered GOOD condition. Some of the rain ponchos we receive from the Government have been treated by the Government with a special chemical to prevent them from rotting. This chemical is harmless and can be easily removed by soaking the poncho in a mild solution of pine sol and warm water in your bathtub for several hours. Then hang to drip dry. This chemical may or may not be present on both NEW and USED rain ponchos and is NOT considered a deficiency.
